Website terms.

These terms govern your use of the ILA Online website. They are separate from the engagement terms you'll receive in writing when you book an appointment — that's where the lawyer–client relationship is set up.

About these terms

This website is operated by ILA Online ("we", "us", "our") (ABN 28 275 731 414), which provides independent legal advice (ILA) certificates to mortgage borrowers and guarantors. By accessing or using this website you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the website.

These terms apply to information and tools made available on this website. They do not, on their own, create a lawyer–client relationship. That relationship is established only when we accept your booking, complete our conflict and identity checks, and issue you a separate engagement letter and costs disclosure document.

Not legal advice

The content on this website is general information only. It is not legal advice and should not be relied on as a substitute for advice from a qualified Australian legal practitioner who has reviewed your individual circumstances.

Reading this website, submitting an enquiry, or completing a booking form does not establish a solicitor–client relationship between you and ILA Online. Information you provide before we have formally accepted you as a client may not be subject to legal professional privilege.

Please don't send confidential information through the booking form beyond what's required to schedule your appointment. You'll receive a secure portal link to upload documents once your booking is confirmed.

Use of the website

You agree to use this website only for lawful purposes. You must not:

  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the website, its servers, or any connected systems.
  • Use the website to transmit any material that is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, or infringes the rights of any person.
  • Use automated tools (including bots, scrapers, or AI agents) to extract content or submit fraudulent bookings.
  • Misrepresent your identity or your relationship to a matter when submitting an enquiry or booking.

We reserve the right to refuse service, cancel a booking, or restrict access to the website where these terms are breached.

Bookings & fees

Booking process

When you submit a booking, you are making a request for an appointment. The booking is not confirmed until we have completed identity verification, checked for conflicts of interest, and sent you a written engagement letter.

Fees

Our standard fee for a single ILA appointment is $550 inclusive of GST. Fees are payable in advance unless we agree otherwise in writing. Where additional work is required outside the standard scope (for example, where multiple guarantors are involved, or documents are received late), we will provide an updated quote before any additional work is performed.

Cancellations & refunds

If you cancel before your appointment we will refund the fee less any work already completed (for example, document review). Once the ILA certificate has been issued the fee is non-refundable. Our full cancellation terms are set out in your engagement letter.

Intellectual property

All content on this website — including text, graphics, logos, the ILA Online name and mark, and the layout and design of the pages — is owned by ILA Online or used under licence. It is protected by Australian and international copyright and trade mark law.

You may view, download and print pages from this website for your personal, non-commercial use, provided you keep all copyright and proprietary notices intact. Any other use — including copying, republishing, or using the content in another website or product — requires our prior written consent.

Third-party links

This website may link to third-party websites, such as our lender partners, government agencies (e.g. ASIC, OAIC), or industry bodies. We provide these links for convenience only and do not endorse the content of those sites, nor are we responsible for their privacy practices. You should review each third-party site's own terms before relying on it.

Disclaimers

We aim to keep the information on this website accurate and up to date, but we make no warranty that it is complete, current, or free from error. The website is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we exclude all warranties and representations, whether express or implied, regarding the website and its content — including any warranty as to merchantability, fitness for purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.

Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy that you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot be lawfully excluded.

Subject to that, to the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or inability to use, this website.
  • We are not liable for any indirect, special, incidental or consequential loss, including loss of profits, revenue, business, opportunity, or data.
  • Our total liability arising out of or in connection with the website is limited to the fees paid by you for the relevant service in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
Professional Standards Legislation. Our liability is limited by a scheme approved under Professional Standards Legislation. The scheme caps the civil liability of participating solicitors in certain circumstances.

Privacy

Our handling of personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms. By using this website you acknowledge that you have read and understood that policy.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. You and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that state and the courts of appeal from them.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The current version will always be available at this page. Continued use of the website after we post changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
